G2 Phase

Table of Contents

Definition

  • The cell replenishes its energy stores and synthesizes proteins called Tubulin dimers necessary for chromosome manipulation.
  • The preparation phase before Mitosis.
  • Some cell organelles are duplicated, and the cytoskeleton is dismantled to provide resources for the mitotic phase.
  • Additional cell growth may occur.
  • Cell increase in size and volume.

Checkpoints

  • It is the G2 Phase/Mitosis (G/M) Transition.
  • Ensures that all DNA are completely and correctly replicated.
  • Damages to replicated DNA are checked.
  • Cell proceeds to M phase if cell size and nutrients are sufficient.

Stimulating Protein

  • Cyclin and Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDK).

Inhibiting Protein
